new year's eve in san diego
New Years Eve in San Diego is the right around the corner, and the area buzzing is with all kinds of festivities. Still not sure how to spend your December 31st? We don’t blame you–there are tons of options in North County alone!

To ease the planning process, here are the top 3 recommendations for local celebrations. Each offers something a little different, but all of them guarantee a great kickoff into 2018.

1. New Year’s Gala – Hotel Del Coronado

If you’re looking for elegance and class, look no further. The Hotel Del, as it’s referred to affectionately by locals and frequent visitors, is known for being one of the most upscale hotels in the San Diego area. Their annual New Year’s Gala is a refined experience for anyone who wants to enter the New Year in style.

Enjoy an indulgent five-course meal, open bar, and music by a live band as you dance the night away in the Hotel Del’s oceanfront ballroom. The theme this year, “A Passage to India,” means that this celebration is going to be particularly colorful and exotic.

The event is 21+, but kids and teens are welcome until 12:30 AM. There will be plenty of activities for youngsters, like ice skating, s’mores, games, and a late-night movie.

Tickets are $375 for general admission and $425 for VIP seating. Tickets for children 8-17 years old are $125 for the first child and $100 for each additional child.

2. New Year’s Eve Soirée – Rancho Bernardo Inn

For those visiting from out of town or looking for an all-out extravagant staycation, the Rancho Bernardo Inn is offering a unique New Year’s Eve celebration! Book an overnight stay at this lovely Spanish Mission-style resort as a part of their New Year’s package deal. Depending on how much luxury you’re craving, you can stay for just one night, or extend your stay to two nights with dinner and dancing!

The actual party will be a small and classy affair, with live music and a limit of 250 guests. It’s perfect for couples who would like an intimate New Year’s but don’t want to give up all the excitement and fun of going out to celebrate the occasion.

Music starts at 9 PM and goes until 1 AM. Tickets to the soiree are $112 if bought in advance, and $137 on December 31st. Check the website for pricing on packages, as they vary.

3. Kids’ New Year’s Eve – Legoland California Resort

Who says that New Year’s belongs to grownups? Let out our inner child this year at Legoland’s fun-filled New Year’s celebration. Obviously, this is a great choice for families with kids, especially little ones.

This is a daytime celebration, ending earlier to accommodate younger children’s bedtimes. You and your family will get to see a giant ball–made completely of legos–drop during the festivities. The party will end at 6 PM with a giant fireworks display to celebrate the new year! You’ll all get complimentary 2018 hats and glasses, too, of course.

Price of the NYE celebration is included in admission. Prices can be found online on the resort’s website.
