The Impact of Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is by far the most common type of cancer affecting 20% of Americans in their lifetimes. You can reduce your risk of cancer by making lifestyle choices like eating right, staying active, not smoking and using sunscreen. It’s also important to follow recommended screening guidelines, which can help detect certain cancers early. However, how do you detect spots on your scalp or the back of your head between your visits to the dermatologist? Eyes on Cancer is enlisting the beauty industry to assist with the prevention and early detection of skin cancer.

Eyes on Cancer Certification

Eyes on Cancer is an organization created to advance the prevention and early detection of skin cancer by educating beauty professionals. Eyes on Cancer developed a training program and certification for beauty professionals to increase knowledge about what to look for and the warnings signs of skin cancer. Eyes on Cancer wants to educate beauty professionals so they have their eyes open to See Something, Say Something and Save Lives. All of the talented 18|8 Lombard stylists and barbers have obtained the Eyes on Cancer certification.
