How to Ask Your Barber for James Bond Hair
Every 007 fan has their favorite James Bond, in spite of the fact that the role has been played by numerous actors over the years. If you want to look like your favorite James Bond, you’ll need to know how to ask your barber to give you the style you want. Here are three of the most popular James Bond haircuts and how to achieve each particular look.
Sean Connery’s Classic Side Part
For many people, Sean Connery is James Bond and vice versa. Sean Connery’s timelesssweep to the side suits most hair types and faces. However, if the hair on top is too long and fine, this cut runs the risk of looking like a comb-over which would be a big fail. But done right, nothing comes close to the classic side-part cut.
To get the original 007 side part, ask your barber to leave about two inches on top, tapering the sides and back down to about half an inch. Your stylist can also use a clipper to further define the part if you that’s what you want. When you style your hair, be sure it’s damp and use a product that doesn’t provide too much shine. Work the product into your hair starting at the roots and then comb your hair to attain the style.
Pierce Brosnan’s Quiff
In Tomorrow Never Dies, Pierce Brosnan sported the iconic quiff haircut. This is a good cut for guys who like the rugged, manly look. This style works on men with medium to thick hair and with most face shapes. To get the quiff, the back and sides should be cut shorter than the top to ensure there’s a definite contrast. Your stylist needs to keep a lot of length on the top of your head and should balance the top section throughout the crown to naturally connect the top and sides.
To style the quiff, work some styling gel into your hair while it’s still damp and pull your fingers through your hair to get some height. Then blow dry it into shape, drying your hair in the direction of the quiff. Finish up with a tiny bit of styling wax for added shine that defines the look.
Daniel Craig’s Crop Cut
Daniel Craig is the latest 007 who’s busting box office records in Spectre. His haircut is neat, tidy and unpretentious. The crop cut is perfect for men with receding hairlines. This close cut gives the illusion of choppy & textured hair and does a great job of hiding thinner areas. And because it’s a close cut, it sharpens rounder faces and puts an emphasis on square jaws.
Daniel Craig’s Spectre haircut is best achieved with just scissors and a comb. Ask your barber to leave one to two inches of hair on top, depending on how short you want it and to blend the sides in leaving the front about ½ to 1 inch longer than the top. The crop cut is best styled when dry. Just work a bit of no-shine styling product into your hair with your fingertips to create texture and a bit of lift.
