18|8 Fine Men’s Salons will open Texas’ first three locations, all in Dallas.
The company, an upscale salon, plans to open its first location in four to five months. The other two will open shortly thereafter. Locations are yet to be determined.
California-based 18|8 is aiming to bring back the feel of the full-service barbershops from the 1920s, a company representative said. Services include massages, manicures, haircuts, hot lather shaves and facials.
Guests will be able to wait for their appointment in the lounge, where they can drink complimentary wine, beer or other beverages. Once they are seated, they will be tended to at stations that are either sectioned off by dividers or completely private, depending on the service.
The company has five locations, four in southern California and one in Albuquerque, N.M. The name stands for the original formula for stainless steel, which is 18 percent chromium plus 8 percent nickel.
Over the past few years, a number of posh men’s salons have nestled into North Texas, sparking a trend of male grooming clubs.
